CRG falls to Acadiana Roller Girls in 2014 Season Opener

Our 2014 season opener (and home opener) on March 15 vs. Acadiana Roller Girls was definitely a hard-fought game with our long-time friendly rivals. But, then again, isn’t every CRG-ARG matchup? Unfortunately, CRG came up short this time, falling 230-191.

We want to thank everyone who came out to the Harang Auditorium (we had a big crowd that was very involved in the game!) and those who followed our game coverage via live tweets on Twitter (@CajunRollerGrls).

Big thanks also to our referees, NSOs and volunteers – who keep us on our toes and make it possible for us to have such great games – and to Acadiana Roller Girls for always bringing their “A” games. Love you ladies! Can’t wait for the second of our three matchups, which are later this season.

We also want to thank Chris Pulaski w/Terrebonne Parish Government, who gave us a lot of good information during halftime on the coming Friends of Fireman’s Park Skate and Bike Park in Houma, as well as other plans to create positive spaces and parks for skating, bikes, scooters and more. He also brought some friends – local skateboarders who gave some examples of the equipment available at the park for tricks. We know we can’t wait to see this park constructed!

We hit the road for our next game, heading east to sunny Florida to take on the Pensacola Roller Gurlz‘ travel team on Saturday, March 29. We’ll be part of a doubleheader, which also includes Emerald Coast Roller Derby facing Pensacola’s home team. The games will be held at Skateland of Milton, 6056, Stewart St., Milton, FL., 32570. If any of our great fans want to make the trip, we’d love to see you there!
