When did you join Cajun Rollergirls?
MAY 2011, as an NSO. 2012 as a ref. And 2013 as a skater.

What is your day job?
Stay at home mom (SAHM)

How did you get involved with roller derby?
A friend of mine was involved in Hattiesburg and mentioned I may like it. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Later that year my family and I saw the Cajun Rollergirls skating in the Halloween parade. I remembered my friend mentioning them, but still did not think much of it at the time. The following spring CRG popped up on my Facebook as “people you may know”. It turned out they had a mixed scrimmage the next morning at Aggies Skate Connection. I went and have been hooked ever since.

Please explain the inspiration and story behind your derby name and number.
My # is my birthday. My name is what a co worker used to call me when he would get annoyed with me.

What is your favorite (derby) position?
Blocker.

Do you have any pre-bout rituals?
Not really. Eat well, lots of water, get some sleep the night before.

Please share your best derby moment (or moments).
When I finally passed my 25 in 5. I had tried so many times. I cried.

Who are your derby heroes?
I’m not familiar with some of the more famous derby players, I dont really pay attention to all that. I do have some heroes on my own team tho.

Do you have a motivational quote?
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” -C.S. Lewis  (it’s on the wall in the library where we have our league meetings)

How would you describe your derby playing style?
Raw, at best…

What is your pre-derby sports/skating background?
Um…marching band?  This is the most athletic thing I’ve ever done in my life.

What are some of your greatest roller derby accomplishments off the track?
My kid, I guess.

How has your involvement in roller derby affected the way you live the rest of your life?
Its introduced me to a group of amazingly wonderful people and given my husband and I a whole new group of friends. My son as well. All three of us are involved, my 6-year-old even has a derby name. It has been wonderful for our entire family.

How do you find a balance between your derby life and your “real” life?
is there one?

Where would you like to see roller derby in another 10 years?
I’d like to see more of the public know about it.

Any advice for girls who want to join roller derby?
Just do it. If I can, anyone can.

Anyone you’d like to take the opportunity to thank?
First, my husband and son, of course. And also all the girls on the team who have been so patient with me.

Do you have a special message to your fans?
Thank you for your support!!!
