What is your day job?
Domestic Goddess (according to my husband) AKA Stay home mom.

How did you get involved with roller derby?
Through a couple of friends of mine who play for Cajun Rollergirls.

Please explain the inspiration and story behind your derby name and number.
Honestly there is no inspiration or story. It was taking FOREVER for me to come up with a name and I was shopping in a store during Halloween. I went down the aisle and saw this tombstone that had the name Waylon on it and beings that my last name is Thibodeaux and I play for the Cajun Rollergirls Wailin Thibodeaux just sounded right.

What is your favorite (derby) position?
Blocker. I feel comfortable there. For now.

What is your skate gear of choice?
Right now I am in between wheels. I like a combo of poisons and radar tuners for laps. But for games I play on a combo of Heartless wheels. Stalkers and Chasers ? For pads I use 187 pros. I rock a hockey helmet cause I love my Brain. Bauer I believe is  the brand.

Do you have any pre-bout rituals?
I like to listen to music. It helps to calm my nerves.

Do you have an inner theme song?
Hahhah!!! Don’t we all sing Eye of the Tiger in our heads before we get out there?! NO?

Please share your best derby moment (or moments).
When I made 28 Laps in 5 Mins. That was pretty Awesome!!!

Who are your derby heroes?
All the Vets on my team are my Derby Heroes. There are skills or things about their personalities that make me look up to them. We have some amazing athletes on our team and we have some with just amazing spirits and personalities. Love these girls!

Do you have a motivational quote?
“I’ve been hearing no pain , no gain ALOT lately and have been learning how true it really is.”

What goes through your brain as you lace up your skates?
What the (bleep) are you doing you crazy girl!!!! LOL!

Do you have a signature move?
Not yet…I’m still learning how to move my body to my advantage….but hopefully one day soon.

How would you describe your derby playing style?
Ehhhh….I’m not really sure like I said I’m still learning.

What is your pre-derby sports/skating background?
I was a rink rat growing up, but as far as sports go I played softball for one season. I never really did sports….they just weren’t my thing.

Did you play roller derby prior to joining CRG?
No.

Did your background make you a natural fit in assisting with your training?
NO!!! I have to work for this really hard. I am not athletic at all. So I am learning that I have some athletic skills and that I need to cultivate those.

What are some of your greatest roller derby accomplishments on the track?
I don’t get a whole lot of penalties.

Off the track?
I have been running when I go to the gym!!! That my friends is a huge accomplishment!

How has your involvement in roller derby affected the way you live the rest of your life?
I go to the gym more and I find I eat better. My husband and I always have tried to eat healthier and work out ,but I find we stick to it more now because I have to if I want to continue to make progress.

How do you find a balance between your derby life and your “real” life?
I don’t have much of a “real” life, like I said, I’m a say home mom so I look forward to the mommy time.

Where would you like to see roller derby in another 10 years?
On TV on a Monday Night!! That would be Awesome.

Any advice for girls who want to join roller derby?
It’s a for real sport. So come ready to play one. I didn’t come with that attitude at first . I thought I would be great exercise and all but didn’t realize how much dedication it takes.

Anyone you’d like to take the opportunity to thank?
My Husband Matt, he puts up with me not being able to clean due to sore muscles or not being able to cook on practice days. He supports me and always knows what to say when I am too hard on myself after a bad practice day. I LOVE YOU MAH-CHEW!

Do you have a special message to your fans?
Fans?!!! I don’t know that I have any as of now.
